Why a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System is Important

A recent long trip reinforced the importance of having a tyre pressure monitoring system fitted.  The tyre picked up a roofing nail and the system warned of low pressure soon after.  This gave us the chance to pick a secure area to pull over and put the spare on.

If not, we could have been rolling along at 100 kph with low pressure which is generally followed by a bang! And then have no choice whatsoever of where we pulled over.

So, again, this system helped with our security (some of the roads we travel do have the possibility of violent street crime) and saved us money.  Win, win.

Most modern vehicles have this type of warning system built in. As we run a fleet of older Land Rovers we decided to fit the Pressure Pro System.

Up Armoured Vehicles

Many Up-Armoured vehicles which I have driven and trained in do not come with this system as standard.  I would recommend having them retro fitted.

  • Correct tyre pressures equal the best possibility of control when responding to situations.
  • I would like a bit of a heads up before I hit the run flat; just to prepare for speed reduction and loss of handling.
